The Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Health has distributed 10,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) to a number of Covid-19 referral hospitals and health services in all provinces in the country.

"The PPE was distributed from Saturday night (3/21/2020) to Sunday morning (3/22/2020)," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Oscar Primadi in Jakarta, Sunday (3/22/2020) afternoon.

The Ministry of Health and the Covid-19 Task Force will also soon distribute 95,000 PPE throughout Indonesia to meet the needs according to priority scale. "Even though it will be distributed throughout Indonesia, of course the task force already has a list of priority scales which regions are most in need of," Oscar said.

Furthermore, according to Oscar, the distribution was carried out in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction at the Limited Meeting on the Covid-19 Task Force Team Report held on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

In this limit, the President asked for maximum protection for doctors, medical personnel, and staff in the hospital serving patients infected with Covid-19.

"Ensure the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) because they are at the forefront so that health workers must be protected and not exposed by Covid-19," the President said at the limited meeting.

The preliminary PPE data that has been distributed in the first phase is 45,000 units for DKI Jakarta, 35,000 units, Bogor 5,000 units, Banten 5,000 units. Then the next phase of PPE with 50,000 units distributed to West Java was 15,000 units, Central Java with 10,000 units, East Java with 10,000 units, D.I. Yogyakarta with 1,000 units, Bali with 4,000 units and 10,000 reserves.

Meanwhile on Monday, March 23, 2020, Oscar said that there would be a handover of medical devices in collaboration between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. "The handover will be carried out at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base Base in Jakarta," Oscar concluded.
